Bone densitometry is a critical tool in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of osteoporosis and fracture risk. High-quality DXA scans and accurate interpretation are essential for guiding effective patient care and for excellent clinical bone research. To support this, our specialized courses are designed for physicians, technologists, and researchers, with the goal of enhancing technical expertise, improving clinical decision-making, and ensuring consistent, evidence-based practices.
Physicians will gain advanced knowledge in osteoporosis evaluation, treatment, and monitoring, while technologists will strengthen their technical skills to perform accurate, high-quality DXA scans and minimize errors. Together, these courses aim to elevate standards in bone health assessment and patient care.
Technologists
-
Enhance the technical expertise of technologists performing bone densitometry
-
Increase the quality of DXA scans, procedures and patient care
-
Increase understanding of bone density tests
-
Reduce the chance of technical errors and their impact on patient care
An International Certification Course for Physicians and Technologists
Physicians
-
Increase knowledge and skills for bone densitometry, osteoporosis diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and care
-
Set the standards for DXA interpretation and its role in treatment and monitoring
COURSES
The technologist course prepares technologists and researchers to competently perform bone density tests and manage the technical components of bone densitometry. Using case-based learning, the course covers day-to-day decision-making, including what to scan, how to position patients, what to exclude, and how to conduct proper quality control. Participants will also learn to calculate the root-mean-square coefficient of variation to determine least significant change and understand the clinical relevance of precision assessments. Upon completion, participants will be eligible to sit for the ISCD Bone Densitometry Technologist Certification Examination. This is a 1.5-day course offered on Saturday and Sunday.
